Alternative Fuel Versus Gasoline
Since the price of oil has increased in the last few years, people are now starting to take alternative fuel more seriously. Simply put, alternative fuel is any fuel that isn’t gasoline or derived from oil. Each type of fuel has it’s advantages and disadvantages, and in this article we will compare alternative fuels to gasoline to see which one is the best to use.
Price
The major reason people use alternative fuel is because the price of gasoline has risen to such astronomical amounts in the past decade. The average price of gasoline is about $2.70 in the United States, but it is usually much higher in other parts of the world. While some alternative fuels are more expensive than gasoline, the vast majority are much cheaper. We will give the point to alternative fuels in this category.
Pollution
Gasoline is knowing for producing loads of pollution, not only when being used, but also when being refined. Alternative fuels on the other hand, especially ones such as electricity and hydrogen produce virtually no emissions, meaning it is cleaner for the environment and safer for the user. The point again goes to alternative fuels.
Renew-ability
This one is very easy to decide. Since gasoline is made out of oil, which isn’t renewable, it means there is a finite amount of oil left in the world, which means we will eventually run out of gasoline. Many alternative fuels are renewable, which means we have a virtually unlimited supply to use before we run out. The point will go to alternative fuels.
Effectiveness
While alternative fuels are fairly effective for vehicles, gasoline is far more effective when it comes to almost any type of vehicle. Gasoline has proven to the world that it can power a vehicle every time and gives vehicles much more power than many of the alternative fuels. This time, we will award the point to gasoline.
Conclusion
While gasoline wins in the effectiveness category, alternative fuels win in every other category. They are cheaper, emit less pollutants and are a renewable form of energy. For this reason, alternative fuels are clearly the winner.
